We recently presented seminars for Kent and Essex Music Education Hub conferences on the topic of ‘Mobile Technology for Instrumental Teachers’. As part of our research, we reflected on our own use of apps in peri sessions, asked our instrumental tutor friends and tried out some of the most highly rated apps on the internet. There are loads of ways that mobile technology – both Android and Apple – can be used in instrumental lessons, from making backing tracks, to developing sight reading, to exploring improvisation.
