After a recent project with Create Arts and Sense UK working with Deafblind young people, we learnt the importance of accommodating the needs of individuals with hearing loss in our activities. We experimented with using different frequencies, soundboards and various methods of passing on music through vibrations, with very interesting results. We have now gone one step further, and signed up to the ‘Me2 Deaf-friendly pledge‘, a quality assurance mark for deaf people who are looking to participate in the arts. This means that future projects will have accessibility for deaf people built in at every level, and staff will be trained on methods of inclusion. Onwards!
